On Thursday, April 21, 2011, Governor Kim, Moon-Soo, governor of Gyeonggi Province visited Detroit, Michigan to join Michigan Governor Rick Snyder at an event showcasing the Gyeonggi-UT Austin’s Global Commercialization Group (GCG) Innovation Program. The focus of the day was a celebration launching collaboration between Link Engineering, Inc., a market leader in industrial testing equipment, and KNR Inc., a Korean testing equipment manufacturer and testing services provider. KNR was a finalist in the second year of the Gyeonggi-UT-(GCG) Innovation Program and the project was initiated through our Program in Korea. The Link-KNR event was held at a new Link testing facility housed in a former Ford Motor Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. The event was highlighted by unveiling a newly installed Test Bench manufactured at KNR, installed at the Link test facility. KNR and Link will collaborate using the test bench to provide automotive and industrial test services, primarily for the automotive industry. Following these events, the Gyeonggi Group visited the GM Volt electric automobile assembly facility, a Hyundai-Mobis assembly and distribution facility and the Henry Ford Museum. Small and medium sized companies in Brazil usually service a single large multi-national customer, this is certainly true for IT companies serving the oil and gas industry in Brazil which attended this year's RioInfo conference to discuss challenges they face in accessing broader markets. Paul Zukowski was invited to discuss the viability of global commercialization platforms that could help Brazilian SMB's diversify their client base and access global market opportunities. Brazilian SMB support organizations and Technical Universities are interested in developing programs that could help local innovators and SMB's diversify their customer base. Austin America Statesman, November 16, 2009: Tamaulipas has long been an important manufacturing hub, as the
concentration of maquiladoras along the Texas border attests. This
week, with the inauguration of the Science and Technology Park of
Tamaulipas (TecnoTam), Tamaulipas is launching a strategic, long-term effort
to harness the potential of science and technology in the state to
promote innovation, economic growth and competitiveness. And to the
creation of higher paying jobs. Governor of Tamaulipas - "The IC² Institute at the University of Texas is one of the institutions
to which we have looked for guidance and inspiration. It was my
privilege to meet with George Kozmetsky, who founded IC², during my
tenure as mayor of Ciudad Victoria. The ideas and insight I took away
from that meeting almost a decade ago have helped fuel the creation of
TecnoTam." Read the entire article in attachment below...

The Global Commercialization Group which Paul co-founded runs a unique program sponsored by the Mexican Ministry of Economy called TechBA. The program's purpose is to bring competitive Mexican technology companies to Texas and help them connect to the U.S. market, creating new high-value jobs in Texas and Mexico. TechBA is in its fourth year of operation even though it was originally a two-year "experiment" at economic development. Paul was involved in designing the program and worked with the Mexican government to launch the program. This year Hope Andrade spoke at the annual TechBA Expo event which showcased new companies selected for the program. You can see an excerpt from her speech here. |
